This week on Intelligent Talk Radio, Twittering Life's Most Important Moments: Twitter is an internet messaging system which facilitates immediate exchange and nearly instantaneous communication from your phone or computer to those tuned in. It has become a powerful new technology, which now has had a role in the unrest of Iran. What can we capture in 140 characters? The potential of greater communication reflects a deep human need to communicate effectively and immediately.  Dr. John M Grohol, Founder and CEO of Psychcentral.com offers his opinion on where this new technology may be heading and what it means for our current social conventions.

Also,
Cancer and Men:  Alarming details have emerged in a study from Great Britain about the lifestyles of men in our society. The study shows men are 60% more likely to develop forms of cancer that both men and women are susceptible to. Furthermore, once having these cancers, men are 70% more likely to die from them. However, the study also shows this is not a function biologically of being a man or a woman. It is behavior related. What does "being a man" have to do with the lifestyle and norms men fall into. What behavioral changes do men need to make to confront this issue, address it and treat it? Listen Below.

This week on Intelligent Talk Radio, Netanyahu's Speech: Are the winds of change among us? Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech in Tel Aviv that represented a possible change in policy concerning Israel and a two state solution with Palestine. Is it possible to make a change in position without betraying our core values? How do we start conditioning public discourse and what is the role of our current administration? David Makovsky, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and co-author of "Myths, Illusions, and Peace: Finding a New Direction for America in the Middle East" shares his thoughts and possibilities.

Also,
The Iranian Election: The 12th of June election results in Iran have sparked a fervor of demonstrations, backlash and dialogue about free and fair elections and supporting the freedoms of people all over the world. Is there a constructive role for the people of the United States, rather than taking sides in a situation which lacks clarity? Is this an unfolding revolution, a change of culture or a power struggle in the same structure? Alex Vatanka, a Senior Middle East Analyst for Jane’s Information Group based in Washington D.C. helps clear up some of these questions.  Listen Below.

This week on Intelligent Talk Radio, Teen Hugging And The Importance Of Healthy Touch: Are your teens hugging too much or not enough? Hugging is now a form of 'hello' to teens and a new study finds psychological and emotional benefits from the expression of physical warmth and friendship. Profound physical benefits are linked to touch and there is now evidence of a direct relationship between more touch and less aggression. Pressure receptors are stimulated, less stress hormones are released and more immune cells become active. Dr. Tiffany Field, Ph.D, Director of The Touch Research Institute   at the University of Miami Medical School, shares the findings of this study.

Also,
Liberals and Conservatives 'Feel' Differently: Would you slap your father as part of a comedy skit? The answer to this and other questions could dictate if you lean toward conservatism or being a liberal. A new study finds that an unconscious bias and predisposition maybe dictate the issues we gravitate to and how we feel about them. It seems that political predispositions are rooted in personality traits both biological and psychological. It's not just about the ideas, for our inherited traits push us to one direction or the other. How do we see the yin and yang of this cycle and how can we learn from the people we most disagree with? Conflict becomes necessary to stimulate growth. Joining our discussion is Jonathan Haidt, a Social Psychologist at University of Virginia, who also runs www.YourMorals.org and www.civilpolitics.org.  Listen Below.

This week on Intelligent Talk Radio, The Killing Of Dr. Tiller: The murder of George Tiller, the physician who performed legal late term abortions for medical reasons, may be more than one man's death. This killing forces us to look at questions of morality, legality, democracy. Is it appropriate to kill a person in order to stop them from killing other people? The argument that we kill one murderer to prevent the murder of many innocents is not an unreasonable argument. But are those who defend such behavior as it pertains to doctors who perform abortions correct in their application of that ethical principle?

Also,
Identity Politics: The Nomination Of Sonia Sotomayor: After President Obama's nomination of Judge Sotomayor to serve on the Supreme Court, the issues of race, gender and sexual orientation surface to center again. Her nomination would be the first Hispanic and only third woman to serve on the court. Affirmative action and racial preference cases encompassing everything from the Voting Rights Act to school integration will be hot topic issues that are likely to be decided in coming terms.(Reid Wilson, thehill.com) Todd Gaziano,  a Senior Fellow in Legal Studies and the Director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation, joins this discussion. This week on Intelligent Talk Radio, Virtual Currencies: A social network company in China has sold 66 million dollars of virtual goods, and Facebook has sold 40 million in virtual gifts according to analysts. What is real? Are we sending and selling feelings that have been monetized? The perceived value between two people expresses a reality and the bonds that exist are genuine. So are we more evolved by sending these virtual gifts as expressions of love? Cary Rosenzweig, President and Chief Executive Officer of Virtual World, IMVU, helps us understand these questions.

Also,
Couples Choosing Not To Wed: A record breaking 40% of babies born since 2007 have been to unmarried parents. These are people committed to having relationships, families and living together as cohabiting couples. What does this say about marriage, commitment and parenthood in the 21st Century? Is marriage becoming the last step to adulthood instead of the first; a celebration instead of an act of permission? Are we beginning to transcend marriage? Andrew Cherlin is a Sociologist and professor at Johns Hopkins and is the author of the new book, The Marriage-Go-Round: The State of Marriage and the Family in America Today. Today he helps us understand the changing dynamic of marriage. Listen Below.

This week on Intelligent Talk Radio, Gallup Abortion Poll: Pro-Choice Or Pro-Life?: What meaning do these terms take on? It is fundamental to life to have a choice. What's the best public policy for our culture? Even though we may disagree, we still need to dialogue. President Obama's speech at Notre Dame's commencement was an historic moment and showed the bravery of the Catholic Church. Frank M. Newport, Ph.D., Editor in Chief of the Gallup poll, explains the result of a new poll and how underlying attitudes may be shifting.

Also,
Religious Freedom And Murder:  An ongoing trend in our own backyard has religious sects invoking religion to withhold medical treatment from children. Children are dying from preventable diseases because of religious freedom and expression. The First Amendment gives us the absolute right to refuse medical care, but it does not give us permission to make martyrs of our children. Religion has a necessary place in American life, in shaping policy, and in making decisions. However, should it allow us exemption in denying healthcare, from homicide prosecution, and criminal responsibility? Norman Fost, MD, MPH, Pediatrician and Ethicist at the University of Wisconsin, talks about this ongoing atrocity. Listen Below.
